Cecil's original waterclours and oil
paintings are often of shoreline subjects, including the Italian city
of Venice, Amsterdam, the Thames and his own city by the sea, Brighton.
The endless play of light is central to his work as well as the
activity of water, sky and the forms of architecture. He is
a regular visitor to all the places he
paints. Most of his paintings find their way into
catalogued solo exhibitions whilst a few are placed
